Our Pastor is Michael Hein. He has been the lead pastor of Maranatha Assembly of God Church since November of 1995. He has been married to his wife Sharon for over 40 years and they have three grown sons.
Pastor Mike has a BA in biblical studies from Evangel College in Springfield, MO. A Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL and a Doctor of Ministry Degree a.b.d. from Assembly of God Theological School in Springfield, MO.
Pastor Mike is a Pentecostal pastor who firmly believes in the moving of the Holy Spirit daily in our lives still today. He also believes strongly in worship, prayer, and that the Bible (the Word of God) be accurately preached. His goal Sunday after Sunday is to bring a message from the Bible that all would be “encouraged in heart and united in love…” and be filled with the “riches of understanding” (Colossians 2:2 NIV 2011). It has always been Pastor Mike’s desire, and still is, for each person who hears the message that is spoken to go home encouraged and with something that will help them grow in their Christian walk.
Pastor Mike also believes that it is not up to the pastor to do all the ministry of the church. He feels strongly and follows wholeheartedly Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV 2011), “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” So, Maranatha is a group of believers working and doing ministry together—we are a team.
Our pastor, like Maranatha, is community minded. He is not one to sit in his office. Pastor Mike is a Rotary Member—rubbing shoulders with other people in town. He enjoys working with other fellowships in our community and combined church events. Currently, he is the Chaplain of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
